Associate Professor Khurshid Alam is a prominent academic in health systems and management, affiliated with Murdoch University's Health Futures Institute and the Health Administration, Policy & Leadership Program. He leads research initiatives in health economics, epidemiology, and statistics, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries in Africa and the Asia-Pacific. His work includes $10M in active grants and supervision of 5 PhD students. Alam holds editorial roles at BMC Health Services Research and PloS One, and is ranked in the top 2% of global scientists by Stanford/Elsevier.
Education: PhD (Health Economics, Monash University, 2011–2014), MPH (Epidemiology/Biostatistics, BRAC University, 2005–2006), MS (Demography, University of Dhaka, 1997–1999), and leadership training at Harvard University (2023).
Research focuses on health financing, health systems strengthening, and global burden of disease studies.
