Khoo Hui Ling

Khoo Hui Ling is a Lecturer in Contextual Studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST), National University of Singapore. She specializes in professional development, music pedagogy, and community engagement. Her work bridges artistic practice with education, emphasizing vulnerability and sincerity in music. She currently serves on the executive committees of the Singapore Music Teachers’ Association and Southeast Asian Directors of Music (SEADOM), coordinating the SEADOM 30 Under 30 Project.

Her entrepreneurial initiative, The Music Studios (founded in 2018), focuses on fostering lifelong musical engagement through innovative programs for students and teachers. She has presented research at international conferences, including the International Society for Music Education World Conference and ABRSM Music Teacher Conferences. Her doctoral research explored Tan Dun’s 8 Memories in Watercolour, culminating in multimedia performances in the US and Singapore.

Additional interests include interdisciplinary art projects, such as piano recitals integrated with visual art and film. She is also a hobby potter, trekker, and erhu player.
