Khen Elimelech is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Computer Science at King’s College London, leading the Autonomous Robots Lab within the Department of Informatics. His research focuses on autonomous decision-making, AI planning, and robotic systems. He holds a PhD from Technion–Israel Institute of Technology and a BSc from Bar-Ilan University. Prior to King’s, he was a postdoctoral researcher and instructor at Rice University under Professors Lydia Kavraki and Moshe Vardi.
His research group develops AI techniques for robotic autonomy, including lifelong learning, task and motion planning (TAMP), and decision-making under uncertainty. Recent work emphasizes abstractions for TAMP, generalizable skills, and formal verification of robotic systems. Key contributions include the LiteRacer simulator for autonomous vehicles and the PIVOT algorithm for belief space planning in high-dimensional state spaces.
Recent publications (2021-2024) highlight advancements in belief sparsification, efficient planning algorithms, and cross-domain skill transfer. He actively recruits PhD students in Task and Motion Planning and robotic cognition. The Autonomous Robots Lab collaborates on projects involving formal verification and SLAM techniques.
