Dr. Keyvan Allahyari is a Humboldt Research Fellow at the University of Potsdam and the University of Tübingen, and a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oslo. He holds a PhD in English from the University of Melbourne (2019) and specializes in global literature, refugee narratives, and postcolonial theory. His research interrogates intersections of migration, literary form, and political economy, with a focus on Anglophone literature from Australia, Africa, and the Global South.
Teaching highlights include coordinating 'Global Literature and Postcolonialism' at the University of Melbourne and designing 'Indian Ocean Literatures' at the University of Tübingen. His major publications include Peter Carey: The Making of a Global Novelist (Palgrave, 2023) and Abdulrazak Gurnah and the Oceanic World Literatures (forthcoming, Routledge).
Key awards include the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2023), Marie Curie Fellowship (2024), and Melbourne International Research Scholarship (2014–2018). His work appears in Ariel, Journal of Commonwealth Literature, and Journal of Postcolonial Writing.
Dr. Allahyari’s research agenda includes transnational literary networks, refugee authorship, and the methodological potential of water studies. He actively contributes to global south studies through editorial work at the University of Tübingen and public-facing writing in Sydney Review of Books and The Conversation.
