Kevin Trenberth is a Distinguished Scholar at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). He served as Coordinating Lead Author of the 1995, 2001, and 2007 IPCC Scientific Assessment Reports, contributing to the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the IPCC. He has held leadership roles in global climate initiatives, including chairing the WCRP Observation and Assimilation Panel (2004–2010) and the GEWEX Scientific Steering Group (2010–2013). His work focuses on climate dynamics, energy cycles, and the impacts of human activities on Earth's climate systems.
Dr. Trenberth is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, AAAS, AGU, and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. His accolades include the Jule G. Charney Award (2000), Roger Revelle Medal (2017), and the Prince Sultan International Prize for Water (2013). His research explores global energy imbalances, climate modeling, and hydrological cycles to advance understanding of anthropogenic climate change.
