Dr. Kevin Trenberth is a Distinguished Scholar at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). He served as Coordinating Lead Author for the 1995, 2001, and 2007 IPCC Scientific Assessment Reports, contributing to the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the IPCC and Al Gore. His leadership roles include chairing the WCRP Observation and Assimilation Panel (2004–2010) and the GEWEX Scientific Steering Group (2010–2013). He is a Fellow in multiple scientific societies, including the American Meteorological Society, AAAS, and AGU, and an honorary fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
His research focuses on climate dynamics, Earth's energy imbalance, and hydrological cycles. Major awards include the Jule Charney Award (2000), NCAR's Distinguished Achievement Award (2003), and the Roger Revelle Medal (2017). His work spans climate modeling, global warming impacts, and interdisciplinary climate communication.
