Kevin Stokesbury, PhD, is Professor and Chair of Fisheries Oceanography at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST). He earned his PhD in Marine Ecology from Université Laval (1994), an MSc from Acadia University (1987), and a BSc from Acadia (1984). His research examines spatial distributions, population dynamics, and fisheries impacts on marine species, with over $39 million in grant funding.
Research focuses include:
- Sea scallop stock assessment and rotational management
- Bycatch reduction technologies
- Offshore windfarm ecosystem impacts
- Video survey methodologies
Publications emphasize marine conservation technologies, fisheries sustainability, and climate change impacts. Awards include the Standard-Times' South Coast Man of the Year (2018) and ICES Service Award. Current projects include NOAA-funded assessments of yellowtail flounder and sea scallop populations.
