Kevin Phaup is an Associate Professor of Industrial Design at the School of Art, Design and Art History at James Madison University. He serves as the Industrial Design Area Coordinator and brings extensive practical expertise in construction trades, digital fabrication, and design thinking to his academic roles.

Phaup specializes in interdisciplinary projects addressing mobility design, accessibility challenges, and disaster relief solutions for developing regions. His technical background includes framing, woodworking, welding, and electrical wiring, complemented by digital tools like CAD modeling and Photoshop rendering.
Prior to academia, he worked in construction/fabrication industries and ministry with at-risk youth. He continues social entrepreneurship initiatives in Nepal focused on wheelchair design and transitional housing post-2015 earthquakes.
