He is also a Staff Scientist at MetroHealth and an Investigator at the Cleveland FES Center. His research focuses on neuroprosthetics and electrical nerve conduction block to improve function in spinal cord injury (SCI) patients. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Kilgore has pioneered the Networked Neuroprosthesis (NNP) System and advanced kilohertz frequency alternating current (KHFAC) and DC-based nerve block techniques for pain management and spasticity reduction.
His academic affiliations include joint appointments in the School of Engineering and School of Medicine at CWRU, and collaborations with institutions like the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Dr. Kilgore’s work emphasizes translational research, bridging engineering and clinical applications to develop implantable systems for functional restoration.
