معرفی
Kevin Ka-Lun Lau is a Senior Lecturer at Luleå University of Technology’s Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering. His work bridges urban climatology with climate-sensitive urban planning and design, focusing on the interplay between built environments and urban climates, particularly human thermal comfort in outdoor settings. He actively explores how urban design impacts health and well-being while integrating climate resilience strategies.
- Research Interests: Urban climatology, microclimate studies, thermal comfort, climate-sensitive urban design, urban health, and sustainable development.
- Key Projects: Principal investigator for government and private sector initiatives; member of WMO Expert Networks.
Lau’s recent publications analyze climate change impacts on building energy resilience, thermal comfort metrics, and microclimate data selection. His work emphasizes passive design strategies to mitigate cooling demand in high-rise buildings and systematic literature reviews on building vertical extensions. These studies often involve cross-country collaborations, especially in Sweden, Cyprus, and Hong Kong.
