معرفی
Kevin J. Black, MD, is a Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, Radiology, and Neuroscience at Washington University School of Medicine. As a movement disorders neuropsychiatrist with over 30 years of service at the university's Movement Disorders Center, he specializes in Tourette syndrome, Parkinson's disease, dystonia, and related conditions. His clinical expertise includes neuropsychiatric consultations for movement disorders and participation in clinical trials.
Education & Training:
- Fellowship: Washington University, St. Louis, MO (1996)
- Residency: Washington University & Barnes-Jewish Hospital (1994)
- M.D.: Duke University (1990)
- B.S.: Brigham Young University (1986)
Research Focus: Dr. Black employs innovative neuroimaging techniques to study movement disorders. His work includes structural volumetry, pharmacological fMRI, deep brain stimulation (DBS) analysis, and cross-species brain imaging. Key investigations involve dopamine effects in Parkinson's disease, predictive biomarkers for tic disorders, and quantitative pharmacodynamic modeling. He leads the Black Lab, focusing on translational neuroscience in movement disorders.
Publication Trends: Recent work (2023-2025) emphasizes tic disorder nosology, neuroimaging correlates of symptom progression, and critical reappraisals of diagnostic criteria, with consistent applications of advanced MRI analytics.
Major Awards & Honors:
- Invited keynote, Tourette Association TIC-CON 2024
- Fellow, International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (2015)
- NIMH K24 Award for neuroimaging training (2009-2015)
- NARSAD Young Investigator Award (1996, 1999)
- Best Doctors in America® (2005-2019)
Mentorship & Grants: Dr. Black has supervised six award-winning trainees (e.g., Deanna Greene's NARSAD Young Investigator Award). Current NIH-funded projects include a longitudinal Tourette syndrome study and the ENIGMA-TS neuroimaging consortium. Past grants from NIMH and the Michael J. Fox Foundation supported DBS research and Parkinson's disease pharmacodynamic modeling.
Laboratories & Collaborations: Directs the Black Lab (https://sites.wustl.edu/blacklab/) and collaborates with the NeuroImaging Laboratories and the Movement Disorders Center. Key contributions include pioneering DBS location-efficacy mapping and pharmacological fMRI methods.
