Kevin Hagopian is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Media Studies at the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, Penn State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Arts (Cinema Studies) from the University of Wisconsin (2006). His research focuses on cultural history in cinema, historiography of media, and pedagogical approaches in visual arts. Current research explores corporate self-framing in visual narratives, surveillance videography, and post-colonial cinema's influence on political philosophy. He co-edited From Entitlement to Engagement: Affirming Millennial Students’ Egos in the Higher Education Classroom (2013) and is completing a book on corporate self-promotion in U.S. film history.

Teaching areas include cinema studies, graduate pedagogy seminars, and African American studies. He has served on numerous Ph.D./M.A. committees and received teaching awards from both Penn State and the University of Memphis. Previously taught at the University of Memphis and worked as an editor for the Film & Television Literature Index and senior analyst at Kenny & Associates (consumer psychology consulting). Active in media commentary, appearing on NPR and quoted by USA Today, Boston Globe, and Chicago Tribune.
