Dr. Kevin E. Curry serves as Associate Professor and Department Chair of Journalism and Media Studies at Linfield University, teaching courses in video/audio production, media law, and social media while advising student media organizations.
His academic preparation includes:
- B.A. in Mass Communication and Political Science from Linfield College
- M.A. in Communication from University of Washington
- Ph.D. in Public Affairs and Policy from Portland State University, Hatfield School of Government
Dr. Curry's research examines American mass media systems through multiple lenses: the historical development of U.S. media institutions, media's influence on political decision-making processes, and practical applications in contemporary production. His work consistently explores intersections between media content, political discourse, and audience reception, with emphasis on how historical context shapes current media practices.
As faculty advisor, he mentors Wildcat Productions and the Linfield Pawdcast Network while hosting the historical analysis podcast "Revisit the Moment" available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. His professional portfolio includes the Oregon Public Broadcasting documentary "The Gentleman of the Senate: Oregon's Mark Hatfield" (2015) and co-founding Relium Media, developer of the "Angel Punk" franchise featuring a Dark Horse Comics-optioned series and novels.
