Kevin D. Welsher is Robert R. & Katherine B. Penn Associate Professor of Chemistry and Director of Graduate Studies in Chemistry at Duke University. He received his PhD from Stanford University (2010) and BS from Emory University (2005).
His research develops advanced microscopy techniques including real-time 3D single-molecule tracking to study viral infection pathways and nanoparticle-protein interactions. Current projects focus on improving spatiotemporal resolution in biological imaging.
Recent publications demonstrate innovations in tracking technology enabling unprecedented observation of virus-cell interactions.
Awards include:
- Sloan Research Fellowship (2023)
Welsher leads a research group developing optical microscopy techniques and mentors graduate students in physical chemistry.
