Kevin Chung-Che Huang

Dr. Kevin Chung-Che Huang is a Senior Research Fellow at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), University of Southampton. He specializes in advanced materials fabrication techniques such as Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), and Van der Waals Epitaxy, focusing on applications in photonic devices, phase-change memory, and renewable energy systems.

He obtained his PhD in optoelectronics from the ORC in 2005 and has since led research in functional chalcogenide materials (S, Se, Te). His work includes pioneering wafer-scale synthesis of 2D materials like MoS₂ and graphene, contributing to over £21M in research grants through EPSRC. He has over 60 international collaborations and holds a patent for germanium sulphide materials.

Recent research emphasizes 3D printing of electrocatalytic structures for energy applications and photonic quantum technologies using hexagonal boron nitride. His publications (over 80 papers, including 13 invited talks) span materials science, energy, and photonics.

Dr. Huang’s lab is part of the Future Photonics Hub, collaborating with industry to translate materials innovations into practical applications.
