Kevin Burke

Kevin Burke is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University at Buffalo's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He serves as the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Co-director of Undergraduate Studies, while also contributing to research as Deputy Director of the Energy Systems Integration Laboratory (ESI).

Dr. Burke's research focuses on power and energy systems, dielectric phenomena, insulation reliability, and partial discharge analysis. Recently, he has explored plasma applications in biomedical contexts, investigating non-thermal plasma effects on cancer cells. His work bridges technical innovation with engineering education, emphasizing practical applications through collaborations with IEEE and industry partners.

Dr. Burke actively participates in community outreach through programs like Buffalo Area Engineering Awareness for Minorities and Women (BEAM), Tech SAVVY, and Science is Elementary. He advises the UB IEEE PES Student Chapter and previously mentored the NASA RASC-AL Exploration Robo-Ops Space Bulls team.
