Kevin Bales is a Professor of Contemporary Slavery at the Rights Lab, University of Nottingham, specializing in research and advocacy against modern slavery. His work has been recognized with prestigious awards including the CMG honor, Queen’s Anniversary Prize, and ESRC International Impact Prize.
He leads innovative research projects such as Contemporary Slavery in Armed Conflict and developed the first global dataset (CSAC) tracking slavery-related violations by armed actors (1989–2016). Other initiatives include Measuring Modern Slavery, The Antislavery Usable Past, and training programs for the US Military.
