Kevin Ashley is a Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, with dual appointments as a senior scientist at the Learning Research and Development Center and an adjunct professor in computer science. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School, a PhD and MA from the University of Massachusetts, and a BA from Princeton University. His research focuses on computational models of legal reasoning, AI applications in law, and legal text analytics. Key contributions include work on case-based reasoning, legal argumentation frameworks, and the development of intelligent tutoring systems for legal education. Ashley has received prestigious awards such as the 2022 Codex Prize and the 2002 AAAI Fellowship.
