Kevin Allen is a Professor in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management at Oklahoma State University (OSU), serving since July 2024. Previously, he held roles as Associate Professor (2012–2024) and Assistant Professor (2006–2012). He specializes in youth development within environmental and natural resources contexts, focusing on 4-H programming, positive youth development, and outdoor education. Allen earned his Ph.D. (1991), M.S. (1989), and B.S. (1984) in Environmental Science and Wildlife Conservation from Oklahoma State University and Southwest Missouri State University.
His research emphasizes youth leadership, 4-H camping, and integrating science into educational programs. He teaches courses like Introduction to Natural Resources and Natural History, and has led over 20 grants, including initiatives on microbiome science in agriculture and 4-H mentoring programs. Allen has received numerous awards, including the 25 Years of Service Award (2020) and Distinguished Service Award (2011), recognizing his contributions to Extension and youth development.
His scholarly work spans environmental education, wildlife management, and STEM curriculum challenges. He actively collaborates with Extension educators and has published extensively on topics like wildlife habitat evaluation and youth life skills development. Allen’s outreach efforts bridge academic research with practical applications, fostering youth engagement in natural resource stewardship.
