معرفی
Dr. Kevin Allan is a Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. His research focuses on the psychology of human-AI interaction, cognitive neuroscience of memory, and social influences on cognition. He holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews and has conducted postdoctoral research at University College London (UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience). He leads the School's online course provision and teaches courses in cognitive neuroscience and psychology.
Research: Dr. Allan's current work examines how AI agents persuade humans, particularly regarding gender bias amplification. He has developed experimental protocols to study AI-induced cognitive biases and collaborates with experts in computing science. His earlier research included Alzheimer's diagnostics via EEG and cognitive mechanisms of memory distortion. A spin-out company emerged from his Alzheimer's research in 2015.
Teaching: Coordinates undergraduate and postgraduate courses including PS4040 (Current Topics in Psychology), PS4041 (Critical Review), and PS4510 (Cognitive Neuroscience). Supervises honors projects and serves on the School's Education Committee.
Funding: Secured over £1M in grants from ESRC, BBSRC, and others for projects on memory, Alzheimer's, and AI ethics. Current ESRC funding supports two PhD studentships (2022 and 2025).
Lab & Collaborations: Collaborates with Drs. Gowri Sripada and Georgios Leontidis (Natural & Computing Sciences). Research interests span AI ethics, cognitive diagnostics, and adaptive memory systems.
