Kerstin Ströbel

Kerstin Ströbel, M.Sc., is a Researcher at the Chair of Human Geography within the Institute of Geography and Geology at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. Since September 2023, she has worked on the Interreg Alpine Space project PlanToConnect, focusing on ecological connectivity across alpine regions. Her academic journey includes a Master of Science in Applied Human Geography (2021–2023) and a Bachelor of Science in Geography (2017–2021), both completed at the same university.

Her research centers on sustainable spatial planning, renewable energy integration, land use conflicts, and conservation geography. Notably, she investigates how green and blue infrastructure can mitigate biodiversity loss through ecological corridors in alpine environments. Her recent publications in Geographica Helvetica and Raumforschung und Raumordnung highlight her expertise in ecosystem services and protected area governance.

Kerstin contributes to the PlanToConnect project (2022–2025), funded by the Interreg Alpine Space Programme (€301,000 for JMU), which aims to harmonize spatial planning systems for ecological connectivity across five Alpine countries. She also participates in the scientific advisory board of the FRU study 'Studieren für die Große Transformation' since March 2023.
