- Education: Ph.D. (2014) and M.A. (2008) in Germanic Languages & Literatures, University of Virginia
Steitz explores critical themes such as the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trial (1963–1965), Roland Suso Richter’s film 'Nichts als die Wahrheit' (1965), and the role of Jewish women in Holocaust narratives. Her work bridges literary analysis with legal philosophy, emphasizing gender and trauma perspectives.
Her 2025 article in Law & Literature examines legal and epic alienation in trial critiques, while her 2019 contribution to Holocaust Studies analyzes cinematic representation of Holocaust memory. Earlier works dissected gender dynamics and Schiller’s influence on postwar legal discourse.
- Scientific Awards: DAAD/GSA Best Article Prize (2018), Gerald Westheimer Career Development Fellowship (2015)
Steitz has secured grants including the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipend (2019) and has contributed extensively to German Jewish studies, gender analysis, and Holocaust representation in literature and film.
