Kerstin Sahlin is Professor at Uppsala University, where she previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor. She holds leadership positions including Director of the Stockholm Center for Organizational Research (SCORE), Secretary General for Humanities and Social Sciences at the Swedish Research Council, and Chair of the Humanities and Societies Initiative within the Wallenberg Foundation's AI/autonomous systems program. She represents Sweden on the European Science Foundation's Social Sciences Committee and contributes to academic boards internationally.
Her research focuses on institutional dynamics in public administration and transnational governance, with seminal work in Scandinavian institutionalism. She pioneered theories on how organizational models translate across contexts, examining hybridization in New Public Management reforms and institutional change in academic systems. Her current work explores governance implications of artificial intelligence through the Wallenberg Initiative.
