Kerryn Hawke is a Lecturer at Murdoch University, affiliated with the College of Environmental and Life Sciences and the Centre for Terrestrial Ecosystem Science and Sustainability under the Harry Butler Institute. Her research focuses on hazardous meteorological events, climate change impacts, multi-hazard interactions, and regional climate modeling. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Geography from the University of Canterbury (1993–1998), a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Meteorology and Climatology from the University of Birmingham (2007), a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Canterbury (2011–2018), and a Certificate in Teaching and Learning (2019).
Dr. Hawke’s work bridges atmospheric science and education, emphasizing holistic supervision of students using evidence-based pedagogy. She was awarded the Murdoch University College Learning and Teaching Citation in 2023. Her research spans severe weather patterns, climate modeling, and interdisciplinary hazard assessment, with notable contributions to New Zealand’s lightning dynamics and multi-hazard resilience strategies.
Her teaching expertise includes designing curricula that integrate fieldwork and theoretical frameworks. She actively mentors doctoral scholars and promotes collaborative research collectives. Dr. Hawke’s affiliations with Murdoch’s interdisciplinary institutes reflect her commitment to addressing complex environmental challenges through transdisciplinary approaches.
