Dr Bagley's research is centered on three interconnected areas: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), inclusive education, and disability in rural contexts. She investigates how health, education, and social service systems can be redesigned to uphold the rights of disabled individuals. Her work emphasizes co-design and collaboration with people with lived experience, using mixed methods to drive real-world impact. She is particularly focused on reducing stigma, improving professional education, and enhancing access to inclusive care in regional and rural Australia.
Her recent publications reflect a strong trend in inclusive education, FASD research, and participatory methodologies. Articles span systematic reviews, co-design studies, and psychometric validations, often focusing on practical tools for inclusion and systemic change. Keywords across her work include disability rights, neurodivergence, rural health, and interprofessional practice.
Dr Bagley has received research funding from the National Disability Insurance Agency for a project on strengthening mainstream schools' capacity to support children with disability. She has also served in significant professional roles, including as inaugural co-chair of the Australian and New Zealand FASD Clinical Network, chair of the Victorian FASD Special Interest Group, and member of the Australian Government FASD Advisory Group.
She supervises research students and collaborates widely across disciplines. Her work is embedded in community service, such as her role as Ambassador for NOFASD Australia. She is active in policy engagement and public discourse, with her research referenced in policy sources and widely shared on social media.
Dr Bagley leads and contributes to interdisciplinary research teams that prioritize intersectionality and lived experience. She has developed online training modules and assessment tools, and her research directly informs professional practice and national guidelines in FASD and inclusive education.
