Kerry Patton is the Deputy Head of the Finance & Economics department and Reader at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School. Her expertise spans financial accounting/reporting, financial systems, and digital skills in business education. She holds Fellowships from the ACCA and Advance HE, and is a Certified Management and Business Educator. Patton specializes in integrating technology into teaching and mentors colleagues in this area.
Education: Currently completing a PhD on 'Influences upon accounting students’ approaches to learning.'
Research Interests: Focuses on educational strategies in accounting, professional development, and digital skills. Her ongoing PhD research explores learning behaviors in accounting students, bridging pedagogy and practical application.
Awards: Recognized for teaching excellence through multiple nominations/shortlists, including PQ Magazine’s 2017 Lecturer of the Year and MMU’s 2014 Outstanding Innovation in Teaching.
Teaching & Service: Leads the Level 5 'Digital Skills for Business Professionals' unit and teaches financial accounting/reporting. Serves as an ACCA SBR(Int) Marking Team Leader/Author. Previously held roles as Year Tutor and Personal Tutor.
External Engagement: Trustee & Honorary Treasurer of a local charity, Chair of Governors at a primary school, and contributes to professional bodies like ACCA and Advance HE.
