Kerry Jankins, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the University of New Hampshire's Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and Chair of the CHHS Dean's Office. Their research focuses on family systems affected by incarceration, early childhood education, parenting interventions, and community-based support models. As Director and Principal Investigator of the Family Connections Center, they lead interdisciplinary efforts to support incarcerated parents and their children. Dr. Jankins holds a PhD in Family/Child Development from Auburn University, an MS in Family/Community Studies, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Southern Maine.
Research contributions include developing tools to assess conflict resolution in preschool children (published in Psychological Reports) and advising national policy through the APA Task Force on Families with Parents in Prison. They have secured grants from organizations like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Linden Foundation. Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Observation & Assessment of Young Children and Learning Through Play.
