Kerry Aprile

Kerry Aprile is the Academic Director of Professional Practice and Head of Course for the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education at CQUniversity Australia's School of Education and the Arts. With over 30 years of experience in Queensland schools, she transitioned to higher education in 2000, contributing to curriculum development, particularly in the Bachelor of Education program aligned with Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Her research focuses on literacy education (e.g., middle school reading comprehension), work-integrated learning (WIL), and inclusive education. She has been recognized as a finalist for University Lecturer of the Year and for her HEPPP-funded literacy project addressing low socioeconomic student outcomes.

Dr. Aprile actively supervises research candidates in Education Systems and Specialist Studies in Education. She teaches a wide array of units, including Professional Practice, Religious Education in Catholic schools, and Special Needs education. Her leadership roles include coordinating professional experience placements for preservice teachers, reflecting her commitment to bridging theory and practice in teacher training.

Her scholarly work emphasizes teacher aides' roles in literacy support, preservice teachers' inclusive education experiences, and regional universities' research productivity challenges.
