معرفی
Keri C. Hornbuckle is the University of Iowa Distinguished Chair Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering. She also serves as Director of the Iowa Superfund Research Program, Faculty Research Engineer at IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering, and Researcher at the Center for Global & Regional Environmental Research. Her expertise spans environmental engineering, toxicology, and contaminant fate in aquatic and indoor environments.
Education:
- PhD, Environmental Engineering and Science, University of Minnesota, 1996
- BA, Chemistry, Grinnell College, 1987
Research Interests: Focuses on organic contaminant cycling in natural and built environments, particularly polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Her work addresses emissions from building materials, urban sources, and contaminated sediments. Key areas include PCB volatilization, indoor air quality in schools, and bioremediation strategies. She develops novel sampling technologies and applies machine learning to predict contaminant distribution.
Publications and Grants: Over 150 peer-reviewed articles (e.g., Environmental Science & Technology, ACS Environmental Au). Active grants focus on PCB exposure mitigation and environmental modeling. Collaborates with federal agencies like the EPA and NIH.
Labs and Teams: Leads the Hornbuckle Group and directs the Iowa Superfund Research Program, fostering interdisciplinary research on environmental health risks.
