Dr. Keren Tanguay serves as Adjunct Professor of Religion in the Humanities Department at Kettering College since 2022 and concurrently holds the position of Director of Clinical Ethics at Kettering Health. In this dual role, she develops educational programs that bridge spiritual care with clinical practice for healthcare students across both institutions.
Her academic foundation includes a Doctorate of Philosophy from The Ohio State University and a Master's in Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Prior to joining Kettering, she gained practical experience as a clinical ethicist in Columbus, Ohio hospital systems.
Dr. Tanguay's scholarly work centers on the critical intersection of spiritual narratives and ethical healthcare decision-making. She investigates how healthcare practitioners' personal spiritual awareness shapes their ethical reasoning in clinical settings, with particular emphasis on preparing future nurses and healthcare professionals through narrative-based ethics education. Her approach integrates theological perspectives with practical clinical ethics frameworks.
As Director of Clinical Ethics, she oversees ethics consultations, develops institutional policies, and creates training modules for students and staff. Her educational initiatives focus on real-world ethical dilemmas in patient care, emphasizing culturally competent spiritual care within healthcare settings. Through the Humanities Department, she contributes to Kettering College's Spiritual Care Minor program, developing curriculum that connects religious studies with healthcare practice.
