Kepal N. Patel, MD, is a Professor in the Departments of Surgery, Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He serves as Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Endocrine Surgery. His clinical expertise includes endocrine and head and neck cancer surgery, with a focus on thyroid and parathyroid conditions. He leads interdisciplinary teams at Perlmutter Cancer Center to develop personalized care plans for thyroid tumors and advocates for tailored surgical approaches.
Dr. Patel’s research investigates molecular mechanisms underlying thyroid carcinoma progression, aiming to identify prognostic markers and therapeutic targets. He holds leadership roles in professional organizations, including co-chair of the Surgical Affairs Committee for the American Thyroid Association and secretary of the New York Head and Neck Society.
His education includes an MD from Rutgers University (1996), residency in General Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (2002), and a Head & Neck Surgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (2004). He is board-certified in General Surgery (American Board of Surgery, 2003).
