Kent W. Royalty is a Professor of Accounting at the Greehey School of Business, St. Mary’s University, where he has been a faculty member since 1986. He has served as Chair of the Department of Accounting and has held prior teaching positions at St. Cloud State University, Eastern Kentucky University, and internationally in Austria and Dubai.

His research and professional work focus on Accounting, Taxation, Business Law, and the Legal Environment of Business. He has contributed to journals such as the ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research, International Trade Journal, and Journal of Global Awareness, emphasizing interdisciplinary applications.
Scientific awards and honors include:
- St. Mary’s University Outstanding Faculty Award
- Donald J. Douglas Award for Innovative Teaching
- Greehey School of Business Community Service Award for his work with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
Royalty has practiced law in Kentucky and remains actively engaged in professional associations, including the American Accounting Association (past Southwestern Region President) and the American Taxation Association. He has volunteered as a reviewer for the VITA Program since its inception in 2003.
