Dr. Kent-Tjorben Böttcher serves as a physician at the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI) in Mannheim, Germany, within the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. He actively contributes to three key research groups: Brain Stimulation, Clinical Neuroscience of Motor Behavior (CLIMB), and Translational Research in Psychosis.
His research centers on neuromodulation techniques and translational approaches to psychotic disorders, with emphasis on motor behavior neuroscience and early intervention strategies for schizophrenia. Current work focuses on optimizing clozapine treatment protocols to achieve remission in acute schizophrenia cases, bridging laboratory findings with clinical applications.
Recent publications demonstrate specialization in clinical trial design for antipsychotic therapies, particularly the 2023 EARLY Trial protocol. This work spans psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based therapeutics with specific contributions to treatment-resistant schizophrenia management.
Dr. Böttcher operates within ZI's integrated research-clinical framework, collaborating across the Brain Stimulation unit, CLIMB group, and psychosis translation team to advance neurobiological understanding of motor dysfunction in psychotic disorders while developing novel treatment pathways.
