Adjunct Professor Kenneth Peters holds roles at Stanford University and has a 42-year career spanning Chevron, Mobil, ExxonMobil, and Schlumberger. His expertise lies in geochemistry, numerical modeling of petroleum systems, and basin analysis. He co-founded Stanford’s Basin Processes and Subsurface Modeling Program and contributes as a Schlumberger NExT instructor and EAGE Lecturer.
Education: B.A. and M.A. in Geology from UCSB, Ph.D. in Geochemistry from UCLA.
Research focuses on organic geochemistry, hydrocarbon production metrics, and subsurface modeling. He authored landmark texts like The Biomarker Guide and edited volumes on basin modeling methodologies.
Honors include the AAPG Sidney Powers Award, National Academy of Engineering membership, and multiple industry medals. He co-chaired major conferences and serves on editorial boards for AAPG Bulletin and Organic Geochemistry.
