Kenneth Paul Tan

Kenneth Paul Tan is an Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, where he has taught since 2007 and served as its fourth Vice Dean for Academic Affairs from 2013 to 2017. Previously, he taught at NUS's University Scholars Programme from 2000 to 2007. He also chairs the NUS Teaching Academy, reflecting his commitment to educational excellence.

Tan's research focuses on the complex interplay between Singapore's political system and cultural expression. His work critically examines meritocracy, political liberalization, cinema and television studies, racial representation, and secularism within Singapore's unique authoritarian context.
