Ken Laundra serves as an Adjunct Professor of Sociology at Fort Hays State University, teaching courses in popular culture, introduction to sociology, and multiculturalism, while also holding a professorship in Sociology at Millikin University.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Sociology from Utah State University (1999), an M.A. in Sociology from Central Michigan University, and a B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University.
His research bridges criminology and environmental sociology, specializing in delinquency, deviance, diversity, and racial bias. Current projects include visual sociology of illegal dumping sites, Earth First! movement decentralization, and service-learning applications in environmental justice. His work emphasizes community-based interventions and rural sociology.
His scholarly output, including the award-winning 2004 paper on juvenile delinquency and over 20 conference presentations, consistently addresses intersections of social justice, environmental policy, and criminological theory.

He co-founded the Southern Utah Recycling Coalition, serves as vice-president of Friends of Pier Park, and holds editorial roles for the Online Journal of Rural Research and Policy while participating in the Pacific Sociological Association and Focus the Nation climate consortium.
