Dr. Kenneth L Cummins is a part-time Research Professor in the Department of Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences at Florida Institute of Technology (COES). He concurrently serves as a Research Associate in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona. With over 30 years of experience in atmospheric sciences, his career includes foundational work in lightning physics and remote sensing instrumentation.
His research expertise encompasses:
- Physics and phenomenology of lightning discharges
- Intercomparison methodologies for atmospheric electricity instruments
- Validation frameworks for remote-sensing systems
- Atmospheric electromagnetics and measurement techniques
Dr. Cummins previously spent 13 years in neuroscience research, developing neurodiagnostic methods and instrumentation while serving as a staff scientist for Nicolet Biomedical Instruments. He maintains active research affiliations with the Geospace Physics Laboratory at Florida Tech.
