Kenneth H. Tucker, Jr. is the Helen P. Bibbero Professor of Sociology at Mount Holyoke College, where he has taught since 1989. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and specializes in sociological theory, social movements, and historical sociology.
His research spans from 19th-century labor movements to contemporary political phenomena like the Black Lives Matter movement and Trump-era populism. He focuses on how social movements utilize visual elements, performance, and cultural strategies to shape political discourse and societal change. His work appears in journals such as the American Journal of Cultural Sociology and Sociological Theory.
Recent publications highlight the personalization of politics, networked activism, and aesthetic dimensions in ideological expression. His 2010 book, Workers of the World Enjoy!, remains a seminal work on cultural strategies in global movements.
