Kenneth Carter

Kenneth Carter is a Professor in the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and holds the title of Provost Professor (2023). He directs research on advanced materials design, including nanocellulose composites, roll-to-roll patterning, and sustainable polymer systems. His work bridges synthetic chemistry, device engineering, and renewable resources.

Research focuses on functional polymer synthesis, surface modification techniques, and applications in electronics, optics, and environmental solutions. Key innovations include nanocellulose-based anti-fogging coatings, printed microfluidic sensors, and mesoporous electrocatalysts for sustainable energy.
