معرفی
Kenneth Buetow is a Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU), serving as Director of the Center for Evolution and Medicine and Director of the Computational Sciences and Informatics program for Complex Adaptive Systems. He holds additional roles as Senior Global Futures Scientist and Health Solutions Ambassador. His research focuses on human genetics, genomics, and computational biology, particularly in cancer, liver disease, and obesity. Buetow previously directed the NIH's Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology.
Education:
- Ph.D. Human Genetics, University of Pittsburgh (1985)
- M.S. Human Genetics, University of Pittsburgh (1983)
- B.A. Biology, Indiana University (1980)
Research Interests: Buetow’s work integrates computational tools with genetic and genomic analysis to study complex diseases. Key areas include tumor immunology (neoantigen characterization), bioinformatics for cancer genomics, and the genetic basis of inflammation and metabolic disorders. He leads initiatives in global health, leveraging multi-omics data from nonindustrial populations to explore evolutionary medicine and disease mechanisms.
Grants & Service: He directs the National Biomarker Development Alliance’s bioinformatics efforts and chairs the GBM AGILE Data Management Core. His service roles span data consortiums (e.g., DataNet Federation) and industry collaborations (e.g., Bristol-Myers Squibb). Recent research emphasizes immune checkpoint therapies, virotherapy for sarcomas, and epigenetic biomarkers in liver cancer.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Computational Sciences and Informatics program at ASU’s Complex Adaptive Systems initiative, fostering interdisciplinary projects in systems biology and precision medicine.
