Kendra Nicks serves as Professor and Davidson Chair in the Department of Physical Therapy at Angelo State University, where she has taught since 2012 in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Her instruction spans Evidence-Based Practice Seminar, Musculoskeletal Examination and Intervention, therapeutic exercise, and Anatomy.
Her educational credentials include a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy (ScD) from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Nicks' research centers on chronic pain and Blood Flow Restriction training, with clinical expertise in orthopedic manual therapy and pain science. She has developed continuing education programs focused on ACL tear screening and prevention in female athletes, demonstrating her commitment to translating evidence into clinical practice.
Her professional recognitions include:
- Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) through the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine
- Fellowship in Pain Science (completed May 2024)
With three decades of clinical experience, Dr. Nicks has practiced across diverse settings including rural hospitals (serving as rehabilitation director), outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and school systems. She has provided athletic consultation for school programs and served as clinical instructor for Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant students.
