Dr. Justin Tammany is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the College of Health Professions, Henderson State University (HSU). He holds a B.A. in Biology and Psychology from Greenville College (2004), a DPT from Indiana University (2007), an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois (2013), and an Sc.D. in Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (2018).
His research focuses on physical therapy policy, organizational behavior in healthcare, and clinical practice improvements. Notable areas include burnout mitigation in physical therapists, patient-clinician communication in pain management, and applications of rehabilitation technology. He previously served as Physical Therapy Director at Coleman County Medical Center and consults rural hospitals on rehabilitation department operations.
Dr. Tammany’s articles (2019–2025) address clinical challenges like home health care, pandemic impacts on respiratory function, and biomechanics of athletic performance. His work on mentorship and productivity ethics underscores organizational dynamics in healthcare.
He is certified as an Orthopedic Specialist (OCS), Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), and Ergonomic Assessment Specialist (CEAS). Active in community sports, he volunteers with youth athletics and supports HSU athletics.
