معرفی
Kendra Kimberley serves as a Lecturer in the Biology Department at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), actively contributing to the HHMI-funded SEA-PHAGES program since Fall 2018. She has co-instructed Biol 299 SEA PHAGES courses across three academic terms, collaborating with primary faculty including Erin Windsor and Chelsey McKenna to deliver curriculum centered on bacteriophage discovery and genomic analysis using Gordonia rubripertincta as host bacterium.
Her research and pedagogical focus integrates authentic scientific investigation into undergraduate education, emphasizing hands-on phage isolation, genomic sequencing, and bioinformatic annotation. This experiential framework transforms traditional laboratories into discovery-based research experiences, fostering student development in microbial ecology and evolutionary biology while contributing to national phage genomic databases.
Dr. Kimberley has directly mentored undergraduate cohorts totaling 17 students across Fall 2019-2020 terms, with courses meeting twice weekly for 3-5 hours. Her Fall 2019 section included 9 students (1 freshman, 8 sophomores) in 5-hour weekly sessions, while Fall 2020 involved 8 students in 3-hour sessions. Professional correspondence is maintained via kendra.kimberley@csn.edu.
