Kendra Abel

Kendra Abel is an Assistant Professor and Interim Executive Director at the School of Education, University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies (2018) from the University of Oklahoma, an M.Ed. in Arts in Education (2008) from Harvard University, and a BFA in Studio Arts (2007) from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Abel’s research focuses on student engagement practices, collaborative learning strategies, and the intersection of Native American studies with oral histories and historical narratives of educational experiences. She brings over a decade of K–12 teaching experience across early childhood, elementary, middle, and secondary levels in Oklahoma public schools to her role in preparing teacher candidates for classroom readiness.
