Kendall Thomson is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University's Davidson School of Chemical Engineering. He joined Purdue in 2000 and holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1990) and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (1999). His research focuses on computational catalysis and nanoporous material design, leveraging ab initio molecular dynamics and density functional theory to study catalytic systems, surface reactions, and materials for energy and environmental applications.
Key research areas include theoretical studies of catalytic activity in zeolites, metal aggregates, and mixed metal oxides, as well as the development of computational tools for rational materials design. Applications span fuel cells, chemical sensing, and environmental catalysis. Thomson has advised graduate students Jeffrey Switzer and Silei Xiong.
