Ken Troyer is a Lecturer in the Communication Department at Sterling College, where he has revitalized the debate and forensics teams to national prominence. He previously spent 13 years in Kansas public schools as a forensics and debate coach and public speaking/drama teacher, leading teams to state and national championships.
Education:
- M.S. in Communication from Fort Hays State University
- B.S. in History and Social Sciences from Bethel College
His research and teaching interests span gender studies, political communication, interpersonal communication, and debate pedagogy. Ken’s teams at Sterling College achieved 9th and 12th national placements in debate (2010-2012), reflecting his expertise in competitive speech and communication training.
Ken’s professional background includes work as a wildland firefighter, and he enjoys outdoor activities such as motorcycle riding, fishing, and hiking. He resides with his wife, Kari, and their three children: Cassidy, Ashlyn, and Treyton.
