Ken Lau

Dr. Ken Lau is Professor and Department Head of Chemical Engineering at Rowan University's Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT, where he also conducted postdoctoral research. His research applies chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to create polymer thin films for renewable energy, biomedical, and sensor applications.

Research expertise includes polymer thin films, energy storage systems, interfacial engineering, and surface modification. His work has generated 88+ publications exploring electrochemical devices, supercapacitors, batteries, and functional coatings. Recent projects focus on conformal protective coatings for battery materials and liquid-repellent surfaces. Honors include the NSF CAREER Award (2008) and DoEd GAANN Directorship (2019-2022).
