Ken I. Kersch is a Professor of Political Science at Boston College's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Political Science. He specializes in American Political and Constitutional Development, American Political Thought, and the Politics of Courts. Kersch holds a B.A. (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Williams College, a J.D. (cum laude, Order of the Coif) from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University. He is licensed in New York, Massachusetts, and D.C. bar associations.
His research examines conservative constitutional thought, judicial behavior, and the interplay between law and political development. Notable works include Conservatives and the Constitution (2019) and Constructing Civil Liberties (2004). He has received prestigious awards such as the Edward S. Corwin Award and Hughes-Gossett Award. Current projects include a manuscript on conservative encounters with civil rights from 1954-1980. His articles analyze topics like presidential power, originalism, and judicial rhetoric, reflecting a focus on historical institutionalism and constitutional discourse.
