Ken Coley

Ken Coley is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Western University since July 2019. Previously, he served as a Materials Science and Engineering professor at McMaster University, holding the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Chair in Ferrous Metallurgy and directing the Steel Research Centre. He holds a PhD from Imperial College London and a BSc (Hons) in Metallurgy. His research focuses on metallurgical processes, particularly steel production, slag reactions, and inclusion dynamics. Coley has led transformative educational initiatives such as The Pivot at McMaster, reducing student attrition rates significantly. He is a recipient of the John F. Elliott Lectureship Award and has contributed to advancing metallurgical education and industry practices globally.
