Daniel Lindberg is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Aalto University. His research focuses on metallurgical thermodynamics, slag chemistry, and sustainable metallurgical processes. He leads the Metallurgical Thermodynamics and Modelling research group, addressing challenges in mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, and industrial byproduct utilization.
His work emphasizes high-temperature reactions in metallic systems, including phase equilibria modeling, refractory material interactions, and the development of climate-neutral reducing agents. Key research areas include gold solubility in slags, hydrogen-based metal recovery from copper slag, and thermal conductivity of industrial ladle linings.
Recent publications (2024–2025) highlight advancements in trace element deportment in nickel matte smelting, antimony vaporization dynamics, and slag-refractory interface reactions. Lindberg’s studies contribute to improving process efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and advancing sustainable metallurgical practices.
